The Canadian Optimist Dinghy Association's objectives are to promote sailing and racing of Optimists in Canada. All Opti sailors enter the class as novices (green fleet) but quickly learn and develop their skills to eventually compete outside of Canada on the world stage. These early events in our sailor's careers can spark a lifetime commitment to the sport. Excellence in coaching is a critical element at all stages of development.
CODA believes in developing an experienced and well trained coaching community in Canada, which will benefit not just the Optimist Class but all sailors who use coaches. With resources raised with the help of Wind Athletes, the class can continue to support regional clinics, coach on coach training and international development opportunities that will impact the quality of coaching and create opportunities for coaches across the country, leaving a lasting impact on our sport.
