Hi, I'm Ruby Thomas, a proud Port Credit Yacht Club sailor. Last season, racing Club 420 (sail #9446) for The Boulevard Club, I placed 11th in the Silver Fleet at the Sail Canada Youth Fest & Club 420 Youth Championship at CORK/Sail Kingston — one of the largest youth regattas in Canada, with 88 boats entered in our fleet.
I have completed about half of the circuit in a Ilca 6: 62nd at Canadians, 26th at Seahorse and 7th Steerers (1st female).
I also raced a full 2025 circuit: 9th at the Lilac Regatta, 30th at Four Sisters, 14th at the Hans Fogh Regatta, and 11th at the Cornish Hen. Every one of those results taught me something and pushed me to train harder.
After several years racing Club 420 for The Boulevard Club, I joined Port Credit Yacht Club for the 2026 season to move into the ILCA 6 fleet full-time, with one clear goal: qualifying for the 2027 ILCA Youth World Championships. I started sailing when I was 6 years old in wet feet at The Boulevard Club and then moved into Optimist's and then C420s. I won most improved sailor in 2019. I just finished my CanSail 6 last year.
My 2026 season is built around that goal: the Ice Breakers Regatta, a training camp and the Canadian Championships in Kingston, the ABYC Regatta, our home Steerer’s and PCYC Four Sisters Regattas, Cork, Fall CORK, CORK OCR, and a winter training block in Miami as well as Orange Bowl Regatta.
Off the water, I'm in grade 11 at Etobicoke Collegiate Institute in Toronto, where I'm on the Honor Roll. I also play hockey for the Mississauga Hurricanes and won the 2026 TDSB City Championships for badminton. .
