My name is Eva Doucette and I’m a Canadian ILCA 6 sailor. I developed a passion for sailing through exploring St Margaret’s Bay, Nova Scotia on my grandparents’ keelboat and racing with my dad in Ottawa. I started competing in the Optimist class at the age of 7 and was fortunate to represent Canada at three continental championships from 2021 to 2023.
I have been competitively sailing the ILCA since 2022 and have proudly represented Canada at several international events, including the North American and ILCA 4 World Championships in 2024. I transitioned to the Olympic ILCA 6 class in 2025 and was excited earn the top Youth female spot at the ILCA Canadians and Sail Central, and make the medal race at Senior Champs. Sailing is my passion and at 17, I’m more motivated than ever to train and sail as much as I can, with a goal representing Canada at the Youth World Sailing Championships and one day competing in the Olympic games.
For 2026, I plan to compete at the following major regattas:
- Mid-Winters East, Miami, FL
- ILCA Canadian Championships, Kingston
- Sail Central, Toronto
- Youthfest, Kingston
- Youth Championships, Victoria, BC
- Fall Cork, Kingston
- Senior Champs, Kingston
While I’m grateful for all the assistance I have received from supporters, coaches and my parents to get me to this point, the reality is that competitive sailing is an expensive sport with significant travel, coaching and equipment costs. With your continued help, I hope to keep pursuing my passion of sailing with the ultimate goal of representing Canada in the Olympics.
