The Kingston Yacht Club has been invited to compete for the Macnamara’s Bowl, held at the Royal Lymington Yacht Club from April 24th to 26th, 2026.
The 2026 event marks the revival of this iconic international women’s keelboat regatta, last held in 1995. The Macnamara’s Bowl is an invitational, one-design fleet racing event sailed in RS21s, with more than 30 clubs invited from the UK and overseas, with only 20 entries accepted.
Under the Kingston Yacht Club burgee, Anna Powick, Sam Mastel-Marr, Lilly Rainham, Caleigh Styles, and Izzy Pepper (alternate), a U25 Canadian women’s team will take to the starting line. For our team, this opportunity is exhilarating and rare. With the fleet entering Ontario last summer, the RS21 fleet is still in its early stages, with only 13 boats nationwide. Competing in the UK means stepping into a much larger, deeper, and more competitive fleet.
As there is still ice on the water, the team is learning the ropes of an RS21 through Chalk Talks, online lectures, and video analysis to familiarize ourselves with a new boat. We are working on team building, looking forward to this opportunity. Racing at the Macnamara’s Bowl offers us the chance to learn at an accelerated pace, test ourselves against international competition, and gain exposure to high-level fleet racing that will shape our development as sailors and athletes. It is an opportunity to represent Kingston Yacht Club, Canadian sailing, and the future of women’s keelboat racing on a global stage.
As a young team travelling from Canada to the UK, the financial commitment is significant. Your support will help cover travel, nutrition, training, and competition costs, allowing us to make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
By donating, you are helping young Canadian women access elite international competition, grow their skills, and bring that experience back home to strengthen not only the RS21 fleet but also sailing in Canada.
Thank you for supporting our journey to the Macnamara’s Bowl.
