The Canadian Dinghy Association (CDA) is the governing body of the International 14 class in Canada. The major responsibilities of the CDA include organising the racing schedule and developing and promoting the fleet in Canada.
The CDA is also responsible for representing the Canadian fleet internationally, helping plan upcoming international events, shaping the development of the class rules, and sharing the challenges and triumphs in each of the national fleets. The CDA organizes sending Team Canada abroad to represent Canada at international I14 competitions.
Finally, the CDA helps record and celebrate the long and continuing history of the fleet. We work closely with yacht club archivists and administer the Canadian 14 Foot Dinghy Hall of Fame, which recognizes Canadian sailors for their contribution to the I14 fleet, their impact to the sailing community beyond the 14, and how they distinguished themselves through competition, design / build / innovation, and/or fleet organization.
This year donations to the Canadian Dinghy Association will go towards the hosting of the International I14 Worlds in August in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
