Josh grew up in Toronto and began sailing Optimists at the age of 5 years old at the Island Yacht Club. He demonstrated both a passion and aptitude for racing almost immediately and quickly progressed to racing Optimists, 420s and eventually 29ers at RCYC as a member of their high-performance race teams.
Michael grew up in Toronto and began sailing Optimists at the age of 8 years old at TS&CC. After quickly falling in love with the sport, he found success racing 420s, managing to not only join the Ontario Sailing Team, but also win the majority of the events he attended and consistently finish top in the province.
The pair met in high school and now attend Queen’s University where they compete as members of the Queen’s Sailing Team. They quickly established a strong record of success, consistently winning both Canadian and American collegiate events. Josh and Michael are now committed to pursuing Olympic excellence with a 470 Olympic campaign. The team has shown incredible growth in the class over the past year, placing fourth in their first international event at the 2019 US 470 Nationals. Josh and Michael are committed to intensive training and competition over the 2019/2020 season with the goal of representing Canada at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
