Jacob and Oliver just completed phase one of the 2020 Olympic Trials in Miami by securing a spot for Canada at the Games. The new combination topped 3 Mexican teams and 3 Canadian teams to qualify Canada for the 2020 games, and now lead the trials to be selected as Canada's men's 470 team. The duo are back in Halifax balancing work and physical training while they prep for phase 2 of the trials in Palma de Mallorca.

After a successful 6-year Olympic Campaign in the 470 with his brother Graeme culminated at the Rio 2016 Olympics, Jacob returned to complete his Engineering degree at Dalhousie University, and has since started his career in Halifax. He has come back to the sport to team up with long time friend and coach, Oliver Bone to give the Olympics one more go.  Oliver is a trained sommelier, cook and sailing coach. After sailing the 470 for several years, including competing at the 2008 Olympics, Oliver began coaching and has worked with several successful youth teams. The pair are excited to be back in the 470 sailing together, and have been delighted with how naturally they fit together as a team.
